I dont know exactly why taking DVD media and burning a bootable linux distro that can play the videos on the media would be better than just making an unencrypted DVD, but some people want to do it.
I guess you could guarantee they can play it, rather than worrying if they have an mpeg2 dvd decoder on their machine.
