This is a good blog entry. We used to do everything in Java with five or six components (Struts/Hibernate/JSP/Spring/Tile) and it was a pain in the ass. While we can't really dump Java, we've already copied our models over and we are using Rails for most new things to do backend stuff. Ruby is looking good, and with bytecode compiling on the way, we might even consider rewriting all the old stuff in Ruby (which is a damn fine language).

There's a symfony "book." -- It's not a published book, it's just a PDF the devs put together. I have used symfony, and the so called book was not very useful. The best thing there was the symfony advent calendar.

It's a start, but it's still not there. And it's not about publishing 500 pages of documentation. It's about publishing 50 pages of really good documentation and having a large community discussing your product so it's possible to google for 20 seconds and find your answer.

I'm not saying Symfony is BAD. I'm saying I think rails is better. In a year, I'll come back and see.

How can you say that there is no symfony book? Did you spend more than five minutes on the symfony website? Did you see this big "book" icon in the home page, linking to a 300 pages pdf file? Did you see that, in total, this framework has more than 500 pages of documentation published by the core team, plus the user contributed documentation?

How do you want to convince people if, like the other RoR zealots, you declare things that are not true?
